NVIDIA writes the NCA-AIIO objectives with verbs like describe, identify and compare. Questions written to those objectives come out as short situations: a team wants to scale training past one server, a cluster needs its GPUs monitored, a data center is choosing between on-premises and cloud. Each asks which component or approach fits, and the wrong options are often real NVIDIA products placed in the wrong job.
A useful practice test for this exam trains that recognition across the whole study guide, at the pace of the real exam (50 questions in one hour, as of October 2026). It also explains why each wrong option is wrong, because most wrong options are products that do a different job.
Two questions in the style of the exam
Both cover objectives from NVIDIA's NCA-AIIO study guide.
Two NCA-AIIO-style questions
A team trains models on eight GPU servers. During distributed training, GPUs in different servers exchange gradients after every step, and the job slows down as servers are added. Which part of the infrastructure carries that GPU-to-GPU traffic between servers?
Traffic between GPUs in different servers runs over the compute fabric, the east-west network built for low latency and high bandwidth, which in NVIDIA designs is InfiniBand or RDMA-capable Ethernet such as Spectrum-X. The management network carries administration traffic and is far too slow for gradients. PCIe connects devices inside one server and does not run between servers. The storage network moves datasets and checkpoints, which is a separate job with different traffic patterns.
An operations team wants a dashboard with utilization, temperature, power and error counts for every GPU in a 40-server cluster. Which NVIDIA tool collects those metrics across the cluster?
DCGM monitors and manages GPUs across a cluster and exposes health and telemetry, and its exporter feeds tools like Prometheus and Grafana for the dashboard. TensorRT optimizes trained models for inference. NGC is the catalog of GPU-optimized containers, models and resources. Triton serves models in production. All three are real NVIDIA products, which is why they make convincing distractors.

See the practice testsIf you picked a distractor, look at why it looked right. On NCA-AIIO that usually means you know the product name but not the layer it works at: hardware, the network, cluster software, or the application.

What to look for in an NCA-AIIO practice test
Questions from all three areas of the study guide. NVIDIA splits the exam into Essential AI Knowledge, AI Infrastructure and AI Operations, and publishes the share of each on the certification page. A practice test should draw on all three in roughly those proportions, because a bank that leans on AI concepts leaves you unprepared for the facility, power, cooling and networking questions in the infrastructure area.
An explanation for every option. Read the explanations for questions you got right too. Some of those were guesses, and the explanation is where you learn the reason.
The real pace or faster. Fifty questions in sixty minutes leaves a little over a minute each. Timed practice at that pace shows whether you recognize answers or work them out slowly.
Free questions you can try before paying. Any practice test worth buying lets you see its question style first, so you can judge the explanations yourself.
NCA-AIIO practice options in 2026
| Option | What you get | What it leaves out |
|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA's NCA-AIIO study guide | The official objectives for each area, with recommended training and reading. Free, linked from the certification page. | Practice questions |
| NVIDIA's AI Infrastructure and Operations Fundamentals course | The course NVIDIA recommends for this exam, self-paced, about seven hours (course page). | A practice exam: as of October 2026 the certification page lists none |
| preporato.com NCA-AIIO practice tests | Seven timed tests of 60 questions with 60 minutes each, an explanation for every option, a score for each exam area, and free sample questions before you buy | A video course |
| Practice-test courses on Udemy and other marketplaces | Question banks from individual authors, often discounted | A consistent standard: quality, explanations and update dates differ from one author to the next |
We build the preporato.com tests, so weigh what we say about them accordingly. You can check the question style before paying: the free questions on the certificate page come from the same practice tests. On a marketplace, read the preview questions and look at the date of the last update, then compare both with NVIDIA's current study guide.
Our tests run a little faster than the exam, with 60 questions in 60 minutes against the real 50, so finishing ours on time leaves you a margin on the day.
Using practice tests in the last two weeks
Take the first test cold, before any more reading, and open the results page to see your misses grouped by exam area.
Spend the next three or four days on the area with the most misses. Go back to the study guide objectives for that area and read the matching part of NVIDIA's course, then reread the explanations for every question you missed in it.
Take a second test and compare the area scores. Often the weak area improves while another slips, because one test is a small sample of each area. Study the one that slipped next.
Keep that rhythm (a test, a few days on the weakest area, another test) until two tests you have not taken before both come back at 80% or higher. We use 80% as the line because the certification page does not state a passing score (as of October 2026), and a margin above any plausible pass mark protects you from a bad draw of questions on the day. Then book the exam.
For a longer runway, the 4-week NCA-AIIO study plan lays out a month of preparation, and the 20 explained practice questions are a free warm-up before your first full test.
Frequently asked questions
Does NVIDIA offer an official NCA-AIIO practice exam?
As of October 2026, NVIDIA's NCA-AIIO certification page lists a study guide and the AI Infrastructure and Operations Fundamentals course as preparation, and no practice exam.
How many NCA-AIIO practice tests should I take before the exam?
Take them until two tests you have not seen before both come back at 80% or higher. Plan for three or four tests with study in between, and let the scores tell you when to stop.
Are the preporato.com NCA-AIIO practice tests harder than the real exam?
They are faster: each test gives you 60 questions in 60 minutes, while the exam gives you 50. The questions follow the same study guide objectives.
Do I need hands-on labs to pass NCA-AIIO?
The exam is multiple choice and tests whether you can describe and identify the parts of an AI data center, so labs are optional. They help if you have never worked with a GPU cluster, because scheduling a GPU workload on Kubernetes once makes questions about orchestration and monitoring easier to picture. preporato.com Pro includes NCA-AIIO labs such as diagnosing a GPU pod that stays Pending.
Where can I try NCA-AIIO questions for free?
The certificate page has free NCA-AIIO practice questions with explanations, and the NCA-AIIO practice questions article walks through 20 more.
