Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate

Microsoft retired AI-102 (Azure AI Engineer Associate) and AI-900 (Azure AI Fundamentals) on June 30, 2026. AI-103 leads to the Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate certification and is built around Microsoft Foundry, agents and generative AI, so AI-102 study material covers only part of it.

Plan and manage an Azure AI solution is 25 to 30 percent, Implement generative AI and agentic solutions is 30 to 35 percent, and computer vision, text analysis and information extraction are each 10 to 15 percent. More than half the exam sits in the first two domains.

You get 120 minutes. Scores are reported on a scale of 1 to 1,000 and 700 or greater passes. Because the score is scaled, 700 does not have to equal 70 percent of the points. There is no penalty for guessing, and some questions may be unscored.

Yes. Microsoft describes candidates as having experience developing apps in Python. Questions reference the Foundry SDK, the Responses API and Azure service configuration, so you should be able to read SDK calls and parameter names even though you write no code during the exam.

Most questions cover features that are generally available. Microsoft notes that the exam can include questions on preview features when those features are commonly used.

Renew it every year for free. During the six months before it expires, you can take a short, unproctored, open-book renewal assessment on Microsoft Learn as many times as you need, and passing extends the certification by one year.
